Contracts/Grant Accountant

Duties:POSITION: Contracts/Grant Accountant

HOURS:Full-time, 35 hours per week Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Reporting to the Director of Contracts & Budget, the Contracts/Grant Accountant is primarily responsible for the contract budgets and claims of assigned programs within BRC.

•Review grant expenses and verifies compliance with contract or grant requirements;
•Identify and review variances between actual and budgeted expenditures in both nature and amounts;
•Process contract billings;
•Maintain budgets in accounting systems;
•Work with program directors and appropriate staff in preparing budget analysis and projections, budget modifications and renewals;
•Assist in preparation of agency-wide annual budget;
•Maintain complete and accurate contract files;
•Ensure proper use of account numbers and train program staff on proper coding and allocations;
•Prepare reports to program heads and funding sources;
•Prepare necessary journal entries and/or adjustments for monthly close;
•Prepare grant-related and other required schedules and work with auditors;
•Reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned;
•Other related duties as assigned.


•BS/BA in Accounting required
•Two years of grants accounting experience preferred
•Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
•Microsoft Solomon (Dynamics SL) workin knowledge preferred
•Knowledge of New York State Consolidated Financial Reporting System (CFRS) software preferred
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
